The dwindling Christian community in Israel is a particularly sad phenomenon. Some of the Christians in this country are remnants of the oldest Christian community in the world. Their ancestors were Christians even before their faith became the official religion of the Roman Empire. They preceded the Arab invasion of Palestine hundreds of years before Islam was even born.In Israel, contrary to other countries in the Middle East the Christians do not face and overwhelming Muslim majority. Their relations with Jews are good; their level of education and standard of living are high. They are leaving the country only because they feel uneasy, to say the least, with their Muslim neighbors. The inability of Muslim Arabs to tolerate a minute minority, which shares their language, culture and political objectives puts a question mark over their ability to make peace with the Jewish State.
