New York Times on bombing attempt of the Riverdale synague
Senator Schumer is pleased that the suspected home grown terrorists are “relatively unsophisticated,” implying, that if they were sophisticated they would be law abiding citizens. We do not know yet all the facts, we even do not know if the suspects are guilty. However, Senator Schumer should be reminded that many terrorists are quite sophisticated as 9/11 and other acts show. The working hypothesis of everybody, even of politicians, must be that all terrorists are smart, intelligent and dedicated. The target of this alleged terrorist attempt was Jewish synagogue, however to Islamist terrorist everyone who is not a Muslim is an enemy, and every non-terrorist Muslim is a permissible human shield. There are differences between Hezbollah, Hamas, Revolutionary Guard in Iran, Alqaeda and others but they are united in their desire to spread terror. Perhaps the existence of terrorism here in New York, will make us thing twice about leniency and emphatic understanding of this phenomenon.
