The people who strongly object to rough interrogation, or torture, even in humor are inconsistent in their arguments. They state that torture is both illegal and ineffective. If it is illegal, it does not matter, whether it is effective or not. Illegal torture must be banned even if it is effective. If the main argument is that it is ineffective, then it should be legalized and permitted even if it is not effective at some time and place, because it may become effective with more efficient, perhaps brutal methods. If the thrill of new investigation in unavoidable, I suggest to appoint Kenneth Starr special prosecutor. Torture or lack of it was probably the missing element in President Clinton investigation. Kenneth Starr as special prosecutor in this matter, will have a chance to atone for his past mistakes. He may even follow Senator Spector, although he does not face a primary, and switch parties.
