New York Times on replacing US Commander in Afghanistan

It is highly unusual that the voice of the Commander of US Central Command, General David H. Petraeus is not heard in this matter. This may mean that the President and his Secretary of Defense intend to replace him too. The public is entitled to know more about US strategy in Afghanistan. The history avoiding open debate about Iraq brings about unpleasant memories.
