It is quite clear that without unpopular military operations there is no solution to threats in Pakistan. The American billions are used for making more nuclear bombs, the military supplies go to Taleban, parts of the Pakistani army fight against Americans. President Obama and his advisers are well aware of the public mood; although the left is an ardent supporter of war, as long as America wins quickly and impressively, the President cannot appear as Cheney like war manger. Perhaps the way out is an understanding, at a price, with other countries, India, Russia and China.
