President Obama is an eloquent and charismatic leader, however so far in terms of banks and big business he was more Republican than his opponents. I doubt if George Bush would have been as aggressive as President Obama is in bailing out the failed financial industry and supporting the Republican appointed Chairman of the Federal Reserve.Republicans did not fail because of anything "Republican" but because of blind support of big business and big business only. Even the ideology of tax cutting was applied to income tax of very rich. Nothing was ever said about sales tax or about income tax of middle income Americans. Republicans have abandoned the idea of negative income tax, the champion of which was Milton Friedman, hardly a Democrat, because it would have meant more even handed distribution of national income.
Republicans have never supported high tech companies, main creators of jobs, because they are not, at least initially, a big business .
It is not clear why Republicans always object to any healthcare system, which will take 50 million American citizens out of medical care on level provided only in third world. Is it because of ideology or because of support of big business? And, by the way, big business, that always clings to power and does not care if it is blue or red, will not support them.
Republicans do not need any more talking, of that they have a rich supply. They need leadership which would express Republican ideas. They have not had such leadership since Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich during Clinton presidency.
