Hamas is an outpost of Iran in this part of the world. Israel has certainly made many mistakes in dealing with the Palestinians and the Arab world, however the rocket terror of Hamas is not a response to any of them. It started three years ago immediately after Israel abandoned the Gaza strip. It is difficult to see any advantage it brings to Palestinians in Gaza. Hamas under the leadership of Iran acts first of all against Egypt, Jordan, Palestinian Authority and many other Arab states. The Israeli invasion is a threat against Iran and because of that may result in an opportunity for relatively stable cease fire. The Iran government, in spite of its antisemitic rhetoric and sponsoring of terror, could be practical too.
