The problem of illegal immigration exists because of two reasons and only because of them. There is a need for those immigrants, otherwise they would not have come, and the bureaucracy is unable to deal with this need. To be allowed legal residence in the US is probably more difficult than it was to get a permit for peddler stand on the Red Square during Stalin’s time. This bureaucracy serves nobody except its practitioners. If it had been as bad during the Ellis Island times this country would not have become what it is. It has nothing to do with security. In fact the immigration process as is, is a huge detriment to homeland security; because of it we have 20 million or more immigrants who were not checked at all. The first thing that the new administration should do is reduce the immigration manpower by 90 percent and have every new candidate checked in two weeks. Encouraging immigration is also a proper, fast in inexpensive step for stimulating a recession economy.
